Reminded of my Goals and DREAMS!

Just this week I was reminded of one of my goals and dreams. That goal is to take my family to Alaska for a vacation! I know most people want to go to tropical places and I do too. I actually would like to travel to every state and several countries. Two vacations a year will be nice!

I was reminded of this dream while simply taking the daily action steps of working my candle business. I work with leads whether they are purchased or captured from my Splash page www.candlebizmom.com . This lead came in from the page and she lives in Kodiak, Alaska.

Well, this lead reminded me of the time I spent in Alaska back in the summer of 1998. I was only there for three days but it was just enough time for me to want to go back and visit. I plan to make that trip sometime in the near future. Watching people mow their grass at the hour we call midnight was so awesome to me. Being able to experience daylight for a solid 19 hours was incredible. I think I slept 3 hours the first day! We are always wishing there was more time in the day, well they get it! Along with the daylight, they must endure the hours of darkness. December is the month with the most darkness. Some areas of Alaska experience 24 hours of daylight and darkness but the 19.5 is average. Alaska is a very interesting state, almost like another universe! One of the reasons I want to go back, to experience their way of living. I think it would be neat to visit every state and learn detailed information about each. You can actually do that online, aahh technology at its finest.

Much more fun to visit the state. Make it a family goal!

Out with the Old, In with the NEW!

Well, 2006 is almost over and I'm about to begin an excitng year with new goals and plans for my Gourmet Candle business. I just finished reading 3 books over the past few weeks in December. If you want to read some awesome material? Read Mach II with your hair on fire!
Who moved my cheese? Spencer Johnson and Dare to Dream by John Maxwell
Three exciting books that will make you think about your life and where you are going. All books are very quick and simple hence three in one month. I'm not typically a fast reader but I couldn't put these books down. I'm starting a new book now: Why your Dumb, Sick, & Broke.. and how to get Smart, Healthy, & Rich by Randy Gage So far it is very exciting and I think it will be hard to put down too once I get a good start. I have only glimpsed at the first chapter but have been interupted by my 3 small children on both of my attempts to start. lol

The year ended with a wonderful scent Peppermint Truffle as our candle of the month but 2007 holds some promising new scents being introduced including Sandalwood, Hot Orange Danish, Hazelnut Coffee, Cashmere, and Blueberry Smoothie! I can't wait! My January candles should arrive in about 6 days, most of the time it is sold before I get it out of the box. Seems I always have a visitor over when they arrive. Great for me! I'll take the money and buy myself a new one at wholesale prices. Learn how you can too right here http://www.smellsoynow.scent-team.com/newsignup.php

Don't forget about my candle drawing www.candle-contest.com Win a free 16 ounce candle with No Black Soot.

Here is to a new bright new year!

Thanks to the Owners!

Thanks to the owners Bob, Charlie, Carmen, and Lynn, my office smells delicious! I feel like I have stepped into a dream world, like the chocolate factory was to Charlie. Mary Poppins was to Jane and Michael Banks!
The scrumptious, inviting smell of Peppermint Truffle, this months candle of the month scent lingers through my office as I gaze into the future. It is to Die for! I think I have found my new favorite scent!

Is it a Dream? Or is it reality? It is BOTH! Americans dream of the lifestyle this business is bringing to families. Becoming debt free, taking the kids out of daycare, bringing dad home, the list is endless and its happening right now somewhere around you. Its not easy, but the end result wille make the Blood, Sweat, and tears forgettable.

Everyone has heard the expression, Blood-Sweat-Tears, but I want to eaxpress what it means to me with my candle business.
The Blood: What sacrifice must I make today to live better tomorrow? I will need to invest my time and my money. It is as simple as that. Is it easy? No, but you have to look way into the future and see yourself relaxing on the beach or in the mountains. The results you are looking for will come.

The Sweat: Determination and Consistency! Decide what you want and do it. Take the time to figure out what needs to be done to obtain that relaxing day on the beach. Stick to it, don't backslide. You may not reach the goal as fast as others but with consistency you will reach your ideal end result. Have you ever watched people "Work out" for the very first time? They look like they are going to die! The sweat is pouring off them, their hearts are beating a mile a minute, their faces are so red it looks like their head could explode but they make it through that first frustrating day. As time goes by, and they are consistent with their "Work Out", a change occurs and the "Work Out" becomes easy.
What about those people who make it thru that first "Work Out" day but don't show up again until a week later? Not so easy day again. They must endure the exact same pain they endured one week ago. Why? Its like starting over again, No consistency! They look at the person next to them in frustration but that person works out 4 days a week 2 hours a day.
What could you do in your business 2 hours a day 4 days a week? Think about it!

The Tears: Ahh! The tears of Joy from watching my team grow and seeing others accomplish so much with just a little consistent effort!

Going for the GOLD Fish!

This past weekend marked the 98th year of the annual farmers fair in my hometown. The fair consist of rides, games, a parade, and tons of food. My kids are still very young, 5, 3, and 1 so I take them on Friday during the day from 1-5. My five year old has been playing the goldfish game since he was 2. Every year we play the goldfish game last because I know he will be determined to win the goldfish that lives 6 months or less then we get a new one come October. Since none of us want to carry the goldfish bag for 5 hours it is the very last game before leaving. I don't mind because I know his determination. He gets 8 balls for $1.00 He uses up the first 8 balls then turns to his grandpa and says I need another $1. It was amazing, he won the fish on ball 14. Wouldn't it be nice if our determination was like that of a child. He could have stood there all day as long as those dollars kept coming his way. He would never give up until he won that fish. Previous years has taken more than $2 but we let him play because it is a goal for him. I want him to know that he can do whatever he puts his mind too and so can we adults. It has been amazing the transformation which has taken place over the last few months because I have set my mind to succeed rather than fail. One dollar bills are easier to come by with the fish but I was determined to keep my candle business going and booming. My team has doubled since May due to my change of attitude and my determination. What is keeping you from your goals?

Sharing my business with everyone!

This business is so easy. I have never been involved with a business so simple. The products are wonderful, the support is awesome, and the company wants you to make money.
I have been sharing the business more and more. I give candle samples to the drive thru patrons at every fast food restaurant. It is paying off, the BK lady wants to buy my candles now.
I shop at yard sales for name brand childrens clothing for cheap prices. I also shop for items to help my business. Recently I purchased votive holders perfect for my candles, they were only 10 cents. whoo hoo! The lady running the yard sale purchsed 2 jar candles, I made 33.50 at her yard sale. This actually happens to me alot because the candles are delicious! She bought one for her sister too. I do diaper studies with a local global market lady. She allowed me to place a few brochures when all the ladies were picking up their studies. I left only 5 brochures but I already have one lead from it. If you have a business, share it with everyone. Establish relationships with people, someday they may be able to help you out.

Networking in Bulk

I have found a few ways to get information out to a numerous amount of people at one time.

1. Parades- In my home town especially during the fall season there are many parades with people lined up for miles to check out what you have to offer. The children are waiting for the candy and the women and men are waiting on your free samples and information.

Some parades have a small fee while others are absolutely free! Prizes are usually given away for the best entry in several categories. Decorate that Minivan so it draws attention to the crowd and judges.

Make your handouts small enough to fit in a purse or back pocket. Viewers will normally be attending the festival after the parade and won't want to carry large bulky items or paper.

Get attention not only with the minivan but with your handout too. Make it so they want to look it up later. I have seen many 81/2 X 11 papers on the ground after the parade so keep the paper small with eye catching info.

2. Parking Lots- Walmart, Malls, Concerts, have cars screaming for you to attach a flyer to the windshield. Again make the prospect want to keep the flyer for later use at home. Where are cars lined up in your neighborhood?

3. Daycares/Preschools- Recently I had a member in the organization I'm with develop a coloring page for children. I have asked daycares to give this page to all their children.
This week I will be dropping off 350 pages with my contact information. I think children and women are a great way to get the word out the adults.

4. Halloween- Drop that candy in the bag plus a gift for mom or dad! You may not get alot of trick or treaters in your area. I have to go to my churches Trunk or Treat and pass out candy which draws over 300 children.

OK So if anyone has any other brilliant ways to pass out their info in bulk, please share it with me.

Thanks
